The question that keeps bothering me is - - - Does the " Mass " entry in an engine file refer to the " DRY " weight of the locomotive ? If it does then how are the weights of the water in the boiler and the coal in the firebox added to the " Driver Weight " . Should the " Water Mass " and " Fire Mass " be added to the " Weight on Drivers " ? Does ORTS add the fire mass and water mass to the running weight and to the weight on drivers or should it be added to the " Mass " entry in the engine file ?
If it's not added it sure would make a difference in traction , would it not ?
This is more important in articulated and shay locos etc . where you have multiple engine files for an engine set in the consist .
