Manual coupling wagon
Is that planned? It would not be bad :)

Manual coupling? Like with British/European-style chain/hook couplings? That would be a good addition, but it should only be applied to chain couplings.

Why not Link 'n' Pin as well? Why only chain?

I like the idea for systems like chain and link-pin where that would be necessary, and Rick's right that it shouldn't be limited only to chain. Another similar idea for automatics would be a semi-rare case where the cars don't couple, either because the pins didn't drop (too light an impact) or on a curve where they don't quite line up right, but aren't bad enough to bypass and punch the air line into oblivion

My initial thought was that link-and-pin couplings would fall under the "chain" category. So far there are only 3 types of couplings in MSTS/OR--automatic, bar (permanent) and chain.

Hi,
My apologies, but I've never heard of such a stupid idea!! I'm sure the Open Rails team have much more important things to do. Besides, as far as I can see, it would need each and every vehicle with chain (or link 'n' pin) couplings to be rebuilt with flexible links so they would appear to be coupled to the next one. I wonder if the original proposer would/could even do one, never mind hundreds of thousands?
Cheers,
Ged

What I would like to see is an animated rear coupling chain which swings from vertical to horizontal when coupling to another wagon.
This could be animated by the same trigger which triggers the coupling sound.
I have always been annoyed by the sight of both chains hanging down while moving.
Only problem is living long enough to rebuild all my wagons.

YES!!! http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/I-Agree.gif I'd like to see the link in link 'n' pin swing up to horizontal from hanging vertical, myself. That would be fantastic. http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/pleasantry.gif
