It looks like the editor does not display distant mountains. Any chance you could add two configuration items for view distance, one for how many meters of near terrain to display and another for distant mountains? OR allows for 2k-10k for near terrain and up to 100km for DM.

TSRE now supports only 2x2 km tiles.

Hi Goku
I find the current view fine as I edit the route. If I want to see more I save and look in OR. I have 3 activities, Day/Night/Snow, and all use the same train path which is placed near to my area of construction. This way I can see how my route will look when it is run.

Distant mountains. It is all very well to be able to see them in OR, but how do you generate the files?

DEMEX is the only way to project terrain on DM. You use RGE to create the DM Quad tree and tile generational. AFAIK Mosaic is hte only tool that will apply terrtex art to DM that's not terrain.ace.

Demex was the only method of getting terrain data into MSTS at one time, but TSRE5 does it without Demex. Someone has been very clever.

You are not reading carefully enough Gerry, I said DEMEX is the only way to project terrain to DM. DEMEX is also the only way way to project terrain to hundreds of tiles at once.

The last two quad trees I created and put terrain into had several thousand tiles. You think projecting terrain one tile at a time is acceptable? I don't. I was doing several hundred tiles at a pop w/ DEMEX and it still took a fairly large amount of time.

In new TSRE version, you don't need to think about creating terrain tiles at all. Just select these two options and TSRE will automatically create tiles at current working position.

But if you really want to create whole terrain first, use automatic terrain generator.

1. Select marker file.
2. Select radius in tiles from marker file line.
3. Check if all heightmap files are awailable.
4. Create whole terrain in one click.

That's brilliant! This is the kind of step I desired for MSTS a long time ago. Now future routes will be much easier to start work on. Thanks so much for your efforts Goku!

Hi Goku
This is a great addition to the route editor, auto generating tiles. I look forward to trying it out, at the moment v0.691.exe has been referred by my AVG antivirus, it did this a few days ago with v0.6907.exe then came back later giving it the all clear.

The distant mountains we were discussing above are stored in the Lo_tiles folder in routes USA2 and Japan2. I don't know what the difference is between these files and the standard tiles but I assume they contain less detail.

Hi Goku
AVG antivirus came back with the all clear for v0.691 as expected.
I have just moved over the edge of the world, and the ground appeared in front of me as a new tile!!!
