Great photos, Jim and Charles. Jim, do you know the history of the F&W 100?

One day down at the Hoyt Street roundhouse, in Portland Oregon. About 1974 or there 'bouts and shot with an Asahi Pentax 35mm SLR.

I didn't exactly have permission to get inside, but it looked like rain, so what's a foamer to do? ;) I wandered to the back unit away from the roundhouse, climbed aboard and quickly snapped a few pictures and got off. I did open the engine room and had a look back there. The photos didn't turn out well enough to make anything of them.

Looking North at a mill across Front Avenue.

See? It did rain!

This was the only info on their site but I'll dig deeper next time I'm there.
F&W 100
4068-A was built in March 1949, #6600, FN E1013-A3. It was rebuilt for suburban service in 1959 and renumbered 409 in December 1971. It was sold to RTA on December 31, 1977, and leased back to C&NW. It was retired by Regional Transportation Authority (Metra) on May 2, 1983, and sold it to Rails Diversified Inc as 410 in March 1985. They sold it to Winchester & Western RR and they resold it to Maryland Midland RR as 100. It finally was sold to Short Line Enterprises as Fillmore & Western 100.

They also have another one F&W 101. It was on the rear of the train.

EMCO 4211 East has just passed the short siding at Sarto and is shown here encountering a very rare thing on the Erie Mining mainline: a crossing that warrants active signals (in this case, Lake County road 2)

Not certain on this, but I don't think they had any.

They "inherited" some after their merger with WABASH. http://www.rrpicture...x?id=NW&mid=136

It was a tricky job, but the result I think succeeded ... :derisive:
