File Name: US_Track3s.ace converted to acleantrack1.ace.
File Submitter: cvo2010
File Submitted: 17 Feb 2017
File Category: Miscellaneous (Everything Else)

A remapped/modified version of the texture file US_Track3s.ace, to replace a normal acleantrack1.ace file.

Part 2 of 7.

The texture is based on the late Norbert Rieger's US_Track3s.ace, a part of the textures available for Norbert's superb USTracks v1.0 Beta MSTS track system.

This zip file only contains the ballast texture, and you will have add a railtexture (ACleantrack2.ace).

Unzip to a temporary location and move/copy the ACleantrack1.ace texture to the routes texture folder, overwriting when asked, (remember to back-up the original ACleantrack1.ace file, in case you want to restore the original texture).

Original texture: Norbert Rieger
Texture remapped/modified by Claus Visby Overgaard.

NOTES:

This is meant to be an "Elvas Tower file only". Please do not redistribute or upload this file/texture anywhere else.

Hi Claus,

Thank you for modifying Norbert's original USA track texture for more universal use.

Does the modified track texture have a more prototypical rail head width than that seen on many MSTS track textures?

The textures consist of just the ties and ballast, rails are not included. That would be texture acleantrack2.ace

The texture also cannot re-shape the shape's mesh. Without different .s files, the default/X-Tracks rails will always look wrong. There are some rail textures out there that try to make the railhead appear smaller, but for me the effect only really works if I squint.

I agree Joseph, in a perfect sim we would have different shapes for different weight rails depending on the era. Just like we should have different terrtex for the 4 seasons rather then just two. We can dream.

I'm not sure who Andre is (at least, Coonie hasn't posted in this thread :D ), but I have actually dreamed about different rail weights. They sure look different in real life.

I am certain that OR can enable season-specific terrain textures. The trick to implementing that is to fall back to the default/summer textures if the wanted seasonal one does not exist.

If you confused me with Coonie that's actually rather a compliment!
