Have any of you seen this? My daughter's boyfriend forward this along.

I have the beta and its truly amazing! I can't wait for the full release as there will be a steam locomotive to feed as well!
The challenge of actually driving the locomotive, as one would in the real world has been a handful, to say the least. Reach here, look, there, reach over here as well...
I built a brand new VR PC this year and have moved solidly into the VR realm...no regrets. The immersive nature of the experience makes all previous computer gaming experiences pale in comparison.
I realize that many here are not likely to take the plunge but trust me...it's an incredible experience!
The VR realms have reminded me how far we have come in just 20+ years.
I also have been enjoying a variety of other 'sims' in VR -- especially X-Plane 11. My most recent venture was the purchase of a pair of VR gloves that allow one to interct realistically with one's hands -- as in natural world.
Oh! One more amazing VR experience is the Gemini space simulator -- talk about really appreciating just how cramped those little cabins were ...
The most important aspect (to me) of VR gaming is that now everything is depicted in true 1-1 scale.
Thanks for sharing.

I've seen the videos, but I'm not that impressed yet. OK, if you see it as a "game" then it is very nice, but not as a "simulator". The video does not really give a good example of how to drive a train. (derailments, improper braking, safety, etc.)
The idea and landscape is good, although objects such as trees also "pop up" a few meters in front of you. (and I "complain" in OR that this happens a few kilometers away …….. :) )
About steam, short video, but sound is not really syncronized here either.
Well, for everyone its own thing, but as already mentioned, not exactly my "thing" either. . . : :thumbdown3:

"...but not as a "simulator"..."
I disagree. What is available currently in the beta requires one to carefully start and operate the train, less derailments occur. I'm really looking forward to the full implementation of the rest of the systems in the engine. I am also really looking forward to the steam engine.
I found the videos promoting the game offputting, as they focus on the silly aspects of the game. But I suppose they are trying to appeal to the younger market.
But, as you say, "to each his own" ... Just consider the wide variety of opinions regarding any of the current/past slate of railroading sims/games.
