A "Close" button on the main Open Rails menu screen would be useful and would be in accordance with normal practice.

It's very rare i use any menu to close something down. That red X is just too tempting :whistling:

What normal practice are you referring to? It's common for applications to have a menu item that exits, in addition to the four build-in/standard options all top-level windows have (icon's menu, double-click icon, [X], Alt-F4), but I don't recall seeing many applications that have a button visible to exit.

And if you're really lazy you can right-click the Title bar...

If you're running OR in window mode (which I think is the default) rather than full screen, the window has the standard buttons in the top right. Likewise the main menu. So you can close everything in the normal way expected of Windows software. Is the problem with full screen mode? For that, if you don't want to add the usual window controls at the top like MSTS did, a end/return to menu choice should be provided on the ESC popup as was also the case with MSTS. People who never used Win3.1 probably don't know about the Alt-F4 shortcut...

If they're paying attention, they should!.. it's still listed on the window menu ("control menu").
