A few more shots without trains. I can't get over how nice this route is in the winter. I haven't been able to successfully improve the appearance in the summer months but heck, it's winter here now any how! So I'll enjoy the cold months on the Sandpatch and then move on in the spring.

As I continue to work in the Sandpatch over the winter, I realized I needed some weathered work horses. Looking through my files, I found some nice older models that I'm repainting and editing, sound, lights, repaints, removing shine etc..
Here's my first.. and EM1 (first the original and then my edited version). I enjoy taking these older models and bringing them forward a bit to more current looks.
I've still got to get the green lanterns shining above the main headlight.
But, I'm pretty happy with the results.

This one is all ready...I love being able to bring new life to old equipment. The added lights really enhance the look. I was also interested to see that after I watched a half-dozen old films (color) of steamers, that most bells and hooters are simply painted metal-black. So no more brass on my working steeds! I'm still finishing the lit cab interior and then moving on the a pair of Mountains.

Glad to see that you are enjoying my models. Mod away, but the B&O did not paint their brass bells. It just looks like it from the soot and dirt due to running the engines hard. Sometime next year I will be releasing a significantly more detailed version of these models that OR allows, along with updated texturing. Already done 3D boxpox drivers and other pieces. I'll try not to change the mapping so you can leverage your modified ace files.

Chris,
Your model is wonderful. Thank you for making it. I am still trying to locate a powerful sound set that matches the beast.
I also appreciate the info on the bells but I just can't seem to enjoy a shining bell on a working/dirty locomotive. So, I guess, as it's my world, I'll keep'm black.
Btw, why is there no cylinder cock effect for the fwd truck? Can this be added?
Can't wait to see your newer model.

Due to limitations of MSTS, the EM-1 is actually a player engine and AI engine combined. Control of functions is only for the player engine - with only 2 cylinder special effects allowed . With OR update, I'll be able to have both cylinders function from the player controls.
