I have been using Goku's route editor for a few weeks to develop a route in my locality. I have a question about tracks. In my route a section of track seems to have disappeared, but the lines that indicate that it is in the route database are still there. see picture.

I have tried to connect to the sections either side of the gap, but it will not accept the new piece of track as it still thinks that the original piece is connected. How can I delete the link between the gap?

I have one or two of these remnants ; where a piece of road has been deleted for instance. Something still shows in the editor where the road once was.

can anyone give me a clue how to get rid of this effect.

I "fixed" the first piece of missing track by deleting adjoining sections and painstakingly re-laying track from there onward. Now I have had another instance of this problem, further down the track, away from where I was laying new track. Strangely, the locomotive in Openrails will quite happily run along this invisible track, as if it was still there. I cannot, however select or edit it in the route editor.

So is it a bug in OR or TSRE5? or is it me?

Frustrating.

1. Easiest way is to ignore this bad line and place track different way (the same way, but different angle shapes etc).
2. Don't understand you at all.

1. Alternative: you can delete broken TDB line using one of TSRE2 tools:
http://koniec.org/TdbEdit.jar
But you have to figure yourself how to use it :)
java -jar TdbEdit.jar
gameroot for example c:/ts/
route name for example USA2
numer toru: blue endpoint number
0 end, new file 'nowy.tdb'

Thanks Goku. I will try it.

I think, this Track-Part is found in the *.tdb, but in the corresponding worldfile it is missing.
So OR can't show the shape, because the shape name is only to found in the worlsfiles.
I know a procedure to fix that for signals, but I don't know how to do it for track-parts.
Perhaps somebody else can you help to fix it?

Hi EugenR,
I hope that it can be fixed, as I have another section of track missing now. This was there before, but now it does not show.
I am trying to investigate the reason, but I don't have a good understanding of what the different route files are doing. So it is just a case of trial and error. At the moment, more of error, as the route will run in Open Rails, but the editor will not open it. It just crashes on start-up.
I will have to back track a little to a backup version of my route, and take it from there.
Thanks for the interest,
Geoff

I have made some progress on this.
The missing pieces of track are all located where a track section crosses a tile boundary. I have several examples of these in my route. As EugenR says, the World files contain the reference to the shape file. So I compared the world files for individual tiles from a backup version against the version with missing tracks. Sure enough, entries in the world file were missing. I therefore copied the entries for the track sections from the backup world file for that tile, into the one with entries missing. Then when I ran the editor, the missing track piece reappeared in the route editor.
I don't know how the world files came to be faulty.

Lucky you have had a god backup!
I think I get this problem (not often) if the MSTS Route-editor is crashing in the saving-process.
Here you can see a procedure for signals, but I have never seen one for track-parts:

Thanks for the advice EugeneR. I have fixed some missing pieces, but I do have one or two which are proving to be difficult. The track section in these cases cannot be selected for editing. I could delete and go around the section with new track, but this is not preferable for me since I am trying to closely follow the real world path of the tracks.
