Mileposts Will we ever see them?

Just wondering if OR will ever show mileposts in the track monitor. I'm testing a way freight activity right now in MSTS (and then today in OR) and noticed yesterday how often you look at the mileposts in the monitor to check your location to see how far the next station is. When you building a route you need to put your mileposts in the route so when it comes time to add things like signals and speed limits from employee timetables, you know where they should be placed. If you place the mileposts, the information is already there, not sure why OR isn't using it.

Track monitor mileposts are on my wish list, too. I've run most of my routes enough to know where I am most of the time. But some routes (such as Rogers Pass and KHP2) have milepost-specific train handling procedures that I'd rather not guess at, especially going downgrade with a big ol' grain train.

I've been asking for this for a good while, don't count on it I'd say. It's been known this was missing and discussed on here at least since January 2014.I made a post back last year too about it, http://www.elvastowe...__1#entry173250
We can see how much has been done with it.

Quite simply, there hasn't been an Open Rails volunteer programmer willing to take on the task. One of the drawbacks of volunteer development is the inability to control feature delivery timing.

I had a go at doing it back in Nov/Dec 2014 (see the changes of assignee on bug #1172569) but unfortunately I found the signalling code to be utterly incomprehensible at the time and could not make the changes work.
I'd love for it to be fixed!

Thanks James,
Not a programmer (although I was able to get my name to repeat itself on a Commodore 64 years ago), but if the milepost is set up in the route editor could it not be seen as some kind of static object and the track monitor told to read that kind of object.. instead of being a track object like a speed limit or signal?

I don't remember the details too clearly, but I believe the problematic bit when I attempted it was that, because the signalling/dispatcher system in OR is what provides all the data to the Track Monitor, I was trying to teach the signalling code what a milepost was and it just got too complicated. Things may have changes in the code or someone else may be better-placed to make such changes today.
