Hey all,
Am I the only one who can't get the ORTSEmergencyCausesThrottleDown parameter to work? I read another post from last year, but it wasn't clear to me if this parameter would work for diesel engines or not. It should for North American locos, because they go to idle whenever the PCS light comes on, either from overspeed trip, alerter trip, or emergency brake application. Can anyone shed light on this?
Thanks,
Jason@SLI

I don't see a parameter with such a name in the OR code.

Well, that may explain why it doesn't work :)
Is there a parameter which will cause the locomotive to go into idle should it be placed into emergency, or have a full service penalty brake application?
Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,
I'm sorry, but I gave you a wrong indication. I didn't notice that I made a search with the "Match case" checkbox set. ORTSEmergencyCausesThrottleDown is indeed read and stored in OR. It must be inserted within an ORTS () block that in turn is within the Engine () section of the .eng file.

I never did get this token to work!
If anyone has, please post the relevant engine section.
Thanks

I've had no luck getting it to work either, so I too would love to hear from someone who has had success.
Thanks

I tried inserting in the standard dash 9, engine section, following code:
I enabled the alerter in the OR options and run a Dash9-led consist in explore mode and also in activity mode without pressing the alerter recognition. When the emergency brake is triggered, the throttle goes to 0. So it works here.

It works if the alerter is enabled and is tripped by the TCS system, but fails to do anything if the brakes are placed into emergency manually.

It works in case of alerter not acknowledged and in case of overspeed, provided the alerter is enabled.
It works in case of SPAD also if the alerter it disabled.
It does not work in case of manual emergency braking (not implemented as of now).

Replacing within x.3487 Orts.Simulation.dll with the attached file (together with the insertion in the .eng file of the lines of post #7) cuts throttle also if the emergency is triggered by pressing the emergency key. Please check.
