My gut tells me its still too sensitive but my head tells me, no it could be a data problem in the .wag file. Which .wag file? Beats me.

Might it be possible for the announcement that a brake hose has busted (to indicate a problem w/ too much speed over a curve) be modified so it includes something about which car failed the test? .wag name would be ideal but short of that even having the sequential number of it in the consist will be of good use.

Thanks for considering this.

Yes, its too sensitive in recent versions. A curve which I can take at 130kmph in earlier versions, now breaks hoses in recent version even with the fact that durability is set to 1. This was done using X3467

It should be relatively easy to add the "Car ID" number to the message.

Can you raise a bug report for it?

Will do (sometime today). Thanks!

You can also look at the extended Brake HUD, and wherever there is a "T" value under the "Conn" column, this will indicate a broken hose.

Ahh, I did not know that. Thank you for the tip.

I am not at all sure why I'm still seeing broken hoses at 20-25mph speeds but I do know that very few of my cars have a CenterofGravity() value. IMO there's no good way to know what would be correct for anything so taking into consideration the center sill and trucks as being the majority weight of most empty US freight cars I'd guess the CoG() would be somewhere in the range of 0.75m - 1.25m. Probably towards the low end of that range, higher of course for loaded cars.

Is CoG being used for curve speed calculation in ORTS...??

CoG will only affect the overturning warnings, and not the curve speed warnings as such.

The maximum permissible speed through a curve will be dependent upon the route specifics (superelevation, etc) and wagon properties.

To work through this it might be worthwhile selecting one "problem wagon", and testing it against the test consist on this website. This might help identify relevant WAG file configuration items that can be adjusted.

I have also added the notification for the car number that you requested in the bug request (#3478).

Thanks

Peter, on your web page, why do different values of mass() have no effect in computing unbalanced curve speed? 28t, 288t, no difference.

Ok... was able to track down what I think is going on: Missing value for ORTSUnbalancedSuperelevation ( ). No default value supplied by the software?

I tried to correct this by adding ORTSUnbalancedSuperelevation ( 6in ) to Default.wag the the \DEFAULT folder... there was no effect.

So what to do... change all .wags and .engs or rely on a reasonable default value used by the software? If the later is present, what is it? Where is it?

FWIW, a pal sent me this. Perhaps you'll find it interesting, as did I.
