Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

Over recent weeks, I have been helping a "newbie" with some OR learnings, and I have directed him to the forums for more information.

He has advised me that he cannot browse the forums without logging in, and when he attempts to create an account he gets a message saying that ET is not accepting new members.

Whilst I understand the challenges that ET has recently faced with departed members, I am wondering what the current status of things are, including the acceptance of new memberships.

Can somebody summarise the current status in regards to memebership of ET for me, and advise me in regard to what I suggest to the potential new member?

The old method of vetting new members does not ensure the applicant is who he says he is and so my response has been to refuse to accept new members until such time I can develop a solution to that problem. On occasion I try something different. I'm willing try an alternative again w/ the person you recommend. I'll send you a PM w/ details.
