File Name: Detroit Yukon Mining Co No. 1 (ORTS only)

File Category: NG Steam Locos

The No. 1 was one of four little Locos built in 1904 for the Detroit Yukon Mining Co by the H K Porter Co, Pittsburg, Pa. The Detroit Yukon Mining Co operated a railway six miles up the Klondike River from Dawson Yukon Territory, Canada. This little railroad consisted of these four Porters and 24 mine cars.

This Loco has 24 inch wheels, 6x10 inch cylinders, and a 48 inch wheelbase. It was abandoned for many years, but is now being restored to a like new operating condition by a private individual in Canada. The DYM No. 4, another Loco built to the same order, has been partially restored and is on display at the Dawson City Museum.

The above historical data is from the “Yukon museum guide”. This model was built from drawings, dimensions, and pictures supplied by the owner, and was built with 3D Canvas (now known as 3D Crafter). Testing was performed by Herb Kelsey, Derek Miller, and Tom Werb; the crew was supplied by Tom Werb; and all physics adjustments, advanced testing, and upload packaging was performed by Herb Kelsey. My thanks go to these individuals, and especially to the Loco owner who was most helpful in supplying me with data.

To install this locomotive simply unzip the DYMCo N0. 1.zip file to your desktop and drag the TRAINS folder thus created to the root of your route's directory (where your current "TRAINS" and "ROUTES" folders are located). When your computer asks if you want to merge the new TRAINS folder with the old TRAINS folder say "Yes." Go enjoy your new engine.

And last, but not least, the screenie was supplied by Herb Kelsey.

Enjoy

There is a weathered example available on our local online auction site. It's probably a Bachmann.

Cheers Bazza.
