Sir,

The diesel loco exhaust fan is not seen animated in Open Rails new experimental version and the previous stable version. I have posted the same the OR launchpad website on 21-05-2015.

Usually, this fan is animated as a wheel.

Regards.

Just to be sure....the engine does have the animation in place doesn't it? You have seen the fan animate in MSTS?

I have checked this using the GP35 by Sean Lim which has 4 animated roof fans. None are working in OR.

We had this issue reported for all BLW and BLW/ZT EMD locos. Here is the reason:

Initially, we used parts called Wheels1, Wheels2, Wheels3 and Wheels4 for a set of four fans. However, using the part 'Wheels#' as the designation for rotating fans does not work in later versions OR.

Assuming that Sean Lim used the same approach, there is a simple fix (and BE SURE to make a backup copy of the shape file first):

1) un-compress the shape file

2) Search for 'Wheels'

3) WHEN YOU FIND Wheels11, Wheels12, Wheels21, Wheels22, those are the actual locomotive wheels, LEAVE THEM ALONE.

4) If you find any other 'Wheels' in the shape file, do the following, replace the word Wheels with Rod. EXAMPLE: Wheels1 becomes Rod1, Wheels2 becomes Rod2, etc. DO NOT USE 'CHANGE ALL', that will mess up your locomotive wheels and the model will not work!!

5) After changing the specific parts from WHEELS to ROD, save the shape file and test in OR, you should see rotating fans again.

6) Compress the shape file.

That should do it.

Thanks

Rick
