I finally tried the Editor as well. For the most part, I like what I see.

It's pretty weird seeing everything without specular lighting, but it's also useful (e.g. if it ever becomes part of the Editor, keep and option to turn it back off as needed).

I couldn't figure out how to do anything other than move around and press F1 and F2. Looks like its UI is still in pretty early development. Which is okay.

It's definitely a great work in progress. Keep it up!

Online map or satelite images are incompatible with MSTS projection, but openstreetmap.org provides easy vector data download.
As I mentioned earlier I have my own OSM rendering code so I can convert point coordinates to MSTS coordinates and render custom map.

- OSM layer. I have already my own opengl osm vector engine so It should not be hard to do:

Better and better. :cheers3:
Wonderful progress and hope for those whose route building talents were crushed by the MSTS Editor.
best regards,
vince

I have not been able to figure out how to move an object once placed in the world. I can rotate it but not move it to another location nearby. Am I missing something (most likely).

Statusbar is good idea. It will be very simple to do.

Yes, forests are not finished.

P does what you described as C. C puts cloned object on tile. Use C -> T -> move.

It makes new tile. Go to empty space where you want new tile and press B.

Thanks to both Lutz_s and Goku

Press "T" on your keyboard to activate translate mode, then use the keypad numbers (8,4,6,2) to move the object.

Really exciting developments! Now if you can find a way to import DEM data directly, it would be beyond compare.

Is there any free online source of DEM data?

Sure, the entire US is available from The National Map.
