OK, I uninstalled it cuz it wouldn't work. So, I'm going to re-install it and try it again. I'll post a screenshot.

At the top of the black window at TSRE opening click on the [BROWSE] button to direct TSRE to your MSTS folder that has the global and routes folders.

Or you can enter the path to your MSTS stuff in the settings.text file located in the TSRE folder on the gameroot line as so:

gameRoot = E:/program files/microsoft games/train simulator
(Yes, he uses forward slashes '/' as folder seperators but it works just fine as I've posted above.)

I'd also suggest you print out his manual. Here >>>===> http://koniec.org/tsre5/data/
Much easier to have the hard copy at hand when on the upward learning curve.

Thanks but all my routes are mini routes. I have one vanilla MSTS installed to use for all my mini routes installations.

Hi,

or the line can look like this: gameRoot = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator - Tristate

Which is the gameroot line I use to reach my Tristate Miniroute. Of course, do understand I am still using Windows XP.

I haven't been able to get this app working. All I get is a large black window. When I enter the route, nothings happens. It's still a large black window.
Note: If you have to be online to run this thing then I'm not interested. My gaming PC does not have internet access.

I can open TSRE5 but get a black editing window, if my Monitor is set to "High Color (16bit)" instead of "thrue Color (32bit)". Is that perhaps your problem?

You'll ALWAYS get the black window when opening TSRE! Like this:
Attached File  tsre open screen.jpg (42.17K)
Number of downloads: 4
Well then you need to point TSRE to the Mini folder you want to use, either with the browse button on the TSRE opening screen or in the settings.txt file located in the TSRE folder.
If there are no settings pointing to route in the settings.txt file you get the above screen opening the TSRE editor.

Remember this program is firmly located in the new post msts world where our sim folders are not generally in the program folder and do not necessarily contain train.exe Everybody has their own installation profile, so the first step is to lead the program to yours.

Then you probably don't have the correct folder structure set up by extracting the zip to the TSRE folder. The folder and it's contents are shown below. If you don't have this, it ain't gonna work.
In the file list at the d/l site the 24M zip files are the setup for the folder. The 18-19M exe files are the executable that runs TSRE and must be copied into the TSRE folder after the ZIP is extracted (step 3)

I'll go over how I installed TSRE step by step starting with creating a new folder on your desktop.

1. Create a new folder on your desktop named TSRE
****** correction to version
2. Downloaded from >>>===> http://koniec.org/tsre5/data/ this file >>>===> TSRE5_v0.684.zip
dated 2017-02-08

******
3. Extract the ZIP to the new folder on desktop from step 1. This sets up the folder you see below.
4. Downloaded from >>>===> http://koniec.org/tsre5/data/ This file >>>===> TSRE5_v0.6892.exe
5. Placed the above file v0.6892.exe into the new TSRE folder
6. RIGHT click on v0.6892.exe Context Menu opens. Select Create Shortcut Send To Desktop in context menu.
7. Shortcut appears on desktop pointing to the v0.6892.exe file.
Picture of TSRE folder and Shortcut properties.
Note that the 'OLD VERSIONS' folder is one I created does not come with TSRE. I use it to store old versions.
Attached File  tsre installing .jpg (99.21K)
Number of downloads: 7
That should get TSRE started for you.
All that's left is to point TSRE to the MSTS install folder you want.
Don't skip ANY steps!!
Any time you get (d/l) a new *.exe update you have to change the name in the shortcut to the new updates name. http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/clapping.gif

EDIT TO CORRECT TSRE FOLDER IMAGE

The folder picture above does NOT reflect the correct folder contents after the extraction to the desktop folder created in Step 3 BEFORE the v0.6892.exe update is copied to the folder.
The first picture above is the TSRE folder AFTER 6892.exe is copied in. sorry for confusing anyone . . .http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/pleasantry.gif
HERE IS THE DESKTOP TSRE FOLDER IMMEDIATELY AFTER
TSRE5_v0.6144.zip IS EXTRACTED. (Step 3)
Attached File  addendum tsre6144.jpg (58.65K)
Number of downloads: 6

Vince, did you test your instruction? New exe won't work with TSRE5_v0.6144.zip, it is old version.

The first pic I posted is of the TSRE I'm running no problems . . . ? This is wrong? I d/l 6144.zip, extracted, removed the TSRE5.exe, replaced it with TSRE5_v0.6892.exe
Seems to run okay. No problems with edits/install except the problem I reported with the missing line in the route.TIT file.
editadd:
I had a closer look at your http://koniec.org/tsre5/data/
v0.6144 dated 2016-06-26 00:39 is ver I'm running and
I see the new version is TSRE5_v0.684.zip dated 2017-02-08 00:31 25M
Am I correct here?
Regards,
vince
