delay, first of all you have to read the parts of the OR manual related to activities.
Then you create your activity with the MSTS AE, but instead of using the so-called "VCR" included in the AE, you save the activity and use OR itself in autopilot mode and with accelerated clock speed to run the activity (you can have both the MSTS AE and OR open at the same time). It's advisable to have the dispatcher window open, so that you see how the AI trains move. If something (with timing or other features) is not OK, you correct the activity in the MSTS, re-save and re-run OR in autopilot mode. You go on so until your activity runs as desired.

Any route built with the MSTS Route Editor will generally work without any issues. There have been two items identified that may cause visual issues. First, if the Forest Region definition cover the tracks, trees may show on the right of way, even though they don't when playing the game in MSTS. Second, Open Rails will show the actual tree density within the Forest Region - MSTS will show a maximum, while OR will display virtually any count - allowing for much denser forests.
Any activity created by MSTS Activity Editor will execute in Open Rails. There are differences in the performance of AI trains in MSTS versus OR. This MAY cause issues where trains show earlier or later than the Activity maker intended, potential causing stand off meets or other operations complexities.
In general, you will only find these when the route is loaded and activity played in Open Rails

MSTS APK to Open Rails Converter
My program, MSTS APKExtractor3, already includes the function to convert an apk file into a zip file, and has been available for more than a year, with several hundred downloads from libraries at UKTS, trainsim as well as here!!

By adding the relevant lines to file .trk OR won't show trees on tracks.

I'm NOT trying to Hi-Jack this thread; but your answer of "By adding the relevant lines to file .trk OR won't show trees on tracks." Really interest me. It sounds like a simple procedure. That maybe I could do. Is there someplace where I can find more information on this procedure?

OR Manual >> section 8.14.2 Modifications to .trk Files
Dave, try this thread here:

See posts #'s 11, 63, 67, 72, & 73.
[ screenshot #3 of the .trk file - the line spacing ( lines 1 & 3 ) is important ]

Thanks for the information. What I've checked out looks like I can do. Will try it later today or tomorrow when I have more time.
Thanks again for the help.
Dave
PS: It took me 6 hours but I got it working.
