While trying to complete the German translation of ORTS, I have been upgrading to the newest version available from James site every time I worked on the translation. I also did so on WED and today, and since my last update on WED, I am unable to start TrackViewer. No matter if I run in from the "Tools" menu in the ORTS main menu, from a desktop shortcut, or as an administrator (right-click the exe), after a few second I always get that window known from MSTS aborts, too: "TrackViewer.exe no longer works. The program needs to be closed".

Is somebody else also experiencing this?
What´s wrong here?

Cheers, Markus

More and some new info: Upon generating new translation DLLs to test my work (running Update.bat in the locales folder) and then moving the new translation DLLs to the ORTS install, I noticed a folder "qps-ploc" was created. I also found PO files of that name, and after looking at their contents, I came to the conclusion, those are fro the new pseudo-localisation feature. Since I don´t use this feature, I simply removed the "qps-ploc" folder of translation DLLs from my local ORTS running installation, to see if it had any effects - and now TrackViewer runs fine again.

In conclusion, TrackViewer doesn´t seem to like pseudo localization files. Shall I file a bug report?

Cheers, Markus

Just upgraded to most recent x version. No working trackviewer. Removed the file as directed by previous post and trackviewer is up and running again.

Just updated to X3055 - the offending folder is still present - would it be better to remove it from the update until the bug is fixed? Not everyone may remember to search for this particular topic, and there are users on TrainSim who are not on this site.

Cheers,

A bug has already been filed officially, so I think this will be resolved shortly (after all, personally I´d say, it´s one of those show-stoppers we definitely want to get out of ORTS before getting V1.0 wrapped up).

Cheers, Markus

It's likely a really simple bug in Track Viewer so if anyone's going to do anything, I'd recommend they fix the bug instead. :(

I'm currently moving house or I would've done it, but should have some free time either tomorrow or Monday.
