"Train Sim Modeler" EMD GP-7-9 Resource Kit.
Model was constructed with "Train Sim Modeler"
for use with "Open Rails".
An Orginal Model by Allen Norton "Nortec"-"B&O Guy"

Credits:
Model was built from plans in Mainline Modeler by "Robert L Hundman".
Model by "Me"
Couplers and Cut bars by "Tim Muir"
Headlights modeled by "Kurt Kaminer" (KLW)
Inspiration and drawings from "Richard Percy" ( Espee )
Wisdom and knowledge from "Tim Muir" and "Richard Cowen"

The model can be imported by 3DCanvas and possibly 3DCrafter
for use in those programs. The scale is around 0.2.... Also
the graphics seem to load pretty well and I didn't see any
discrepancies.

No support is offered or will be given. Use the forum for
questions.

Legals:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You may paint it Purple, modify it, crumple it or smash it.
There are NO restrictions other than you must give proper
credit to me and any and all of the other contributors who
have freely given of their parts and time to make this
project a success IF YOU RELEASE IT. You may "NOT" sell it
nor include it in any payware group, route or individually
by itself. THIS IS FREEWARE.

You must also include this document in it's completeness
with any release of the model and or it's textures.

This model is for "Open Rails" only. You may not use this
shape file or any of it's textures for any other simulator
or game. No exceptions.

You may contribute the model as FREEWARE to any web site
as a complete generated shape from Train Sim Modeler or
3DCanvas/Crafter but you MUST also contribute your model
to "ELVAS TOWER" (elvastower.com)... The raw .dst shape
file WILL NOT be uploaded to any other web site but
(elvastower.com) by me, I, YOU or anyone else. This kit
is for Elvas Tower only. NO exceptions.

I or we are not responsible for any damage to your computer
or programs because of you loading this file on or in your
Train Sim Modeler or 3DCanvas/Crafter. You bear the sole
responsibility for any problems you may encounter. Any other
problems you may encounter while modeling and texturing the
model are and will be considered part of your learning curve.

This is considered to be a high poly count model and will
take a good computer with at least 1 gig of system memory
and a good video card with 512 mg of ram or more to run in
the simulator. Windows98 with 32 gig of ram and a 16 mg
video card aren't going to cut it. Total poly count
is 24,170 faces.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Model statistics;
This model has working animated roof fans. I'm not familiar with
later versions of Open Rails and don't really know if a feature
has been implemented for fans to run all the time. These are set
up as rods and animated on the "Y" Axis and will only turn while
the locomotive is moving either forward or backing. Maybe at some
later date Open Rails will have fans coded for running all the
time or at least while the prime mover is running.

The trucks or bogies as they are called in TSM and MSTS are of a
higher detail than was available with MSTS models. Each one has
approximately 6030 polygons. They are also of many seperate parts
parented to the bogies and this was done to keep from having any
single high poly part's. All the part's move and swing with the
bogies just as they should. A seperate kit of the "Bogie1"
"Blomberg B" will be in the library soon.

One of the textures has Paint Shop Pro 7 layered graphics included
for you to modify as you see fit. The only program that I know of
other than PSP is Photoshop that will accept layered PSP graphics.
There may be others that I'm not aware off. There will be included
a seperate BMP file in 2048 X 2048 for people who don't have these
programs.

Not all of the textures are included. The cab interior, seat's and
control column's textures must be provided and applied by the new
builder which is "YOU". I'm not going to do all the work. Ha! Ha!

The window materials used in this model are set up for use with an
alpha channel transparency. The outside window material is set to
"Alphanorm+" and the inner material set to "Alphanorm-". These are
parented to a single polygon buried in the model and is set to
"Alphanorm". The polygon is called Alphamain and is parented to the
part called "Main". A graphic is provided to you for this and is
slightly dirty around the edges. If you want a clean window just
color the alpha pure "BLACK" in the upper right corner window area.

This kit is intended to be used by modelers for Open Rails. Although
there will be some that will want to modify it for MSTS I would have
to say "WHY". MSTS already has plenty of resource material available
including a paint kit version by Dick Cowen. If however you feel the
need, have at it at your own risk.

The locomotive has been modeled after a EMD GP-7 or 9 depending
on the placement of louvers and doors. The main texture is being
provided with details for a GP9 It can be reduced to a smaller
size but will loose much of it's detail. The file was provided
as a BMP image in 1024 X 1024 for use in Train Sim Modeler and
which has a fuller color spectrum than TGA files. The current
TSM will only display 512 X 512 TGA graphics
.
The model is setup with false animations for the use of PolyMaster
for doing the model with subobjects and LOD's after generating from
TSM. In PolyMaster you will remove all the false animations. Do not
however remove the animations from Rods1 through Rods4. These are
the roof fans.

If you save the original .ZIP file and you make a mistake somewhere
along the line you can always go back to the original file.

And remember to save often during your work.

If you use these files and upload your model to the community you
could make a small mention of my name plus the accredited names
who have supplied couplers and lights in your readme doc. That's
all thats necessary. If however you have something bad to say about
me than it would be better to say nothing at all.

This model has been sucessfully generated and run in Open Rails.
There was no drop in frame rates despite running several in a lashup
along with 90 of "Tim Muir's" high detailed freight and reefer
car's.

Textures provided are the following;

GP9-00.PSP
GP9-00-2048.BMP
GP9-00.BMP
GP9-01.TGA
GP9-02.BMP
GP9-03.BMP
GP9-04.TGA
GP9-05.TGA
GP-07.BMP
