Walong Consist Mystery It's a bug but not in OR

Finally up and running again. Went back to Walong (TEH activity) and took a look at the traffic consist that was missing stock. Turned out that it was added spacing that was the problem.
Two of the following engines were both the MSTS stock sd40's and they presented in the activity with spaces. I swapped them out for two handy SLI UP SD40's and you can see the results.
No extra spaces, consist is complete. I know the default MSTS SD40's had shape file and other errors. I have corrected all those (the basic msts patch fixes some).
So does anyone know why they appeared that way (causing extra spacing) in OR. Same OR Vx2194 in both screen shots, only difference was using the SLI UP's in the second shot.
(activity at night, moved clock forward for shots)

There are two sd40 shapes, one is the sd40-2 update file. The other is just called SD40 in the trainset and is the original default locomotive. It is this shape that generates the huge gaps because the length is way out.

Isn´t the length rather a problem with the .ENG file, since MSTS (and probably also ORTS) uses the length parameter from there for the calculation of how cars "fit together"?
If it is that way, it should be an easy change.
BTW, I can´t remember ever having had problems with the default SD40, after having substituted it´s .eng file with some downloaded patch file.

Absolutely correct, it is eng AND sd file that would need to be edited, not the shape. Must remember not to make statements while grey matter is cogitating on other things.

Very entertaining and informative guys. Marcus I usually know what other people are talking about only when I remove my tinfoil hat, increases the signal to noise ratio and let's in those extra signals. Not recommended for the casual user. :pardon:;)

Well, sometines even that won´t help anymore Gerry. Right now, our admins @ school messed up our timetable and even without tin hat nobody would have known it before having to sit around and waiting, if something might happen :D

Perhaps an obvious thing, but I have encountered this odd consist in other Tehachapi activities.
I have recently completed the 3DTS_TEH2_SP_EB_INTERMODAL activity, where you take on two helper engines at the rear at Bena and discard them at Summit Switch.
The initial train couldn't make speeds better than about 20mph on the approach to Bakersfield and Bena.
When I got to Bena to reverse onto the helpers there was the usual fol-de-rol of 'Off Path - Emergency Brake'.
With the helpers the level speed was better, but it was pegged at just over 12mph on the grades up to the summit.
Seems a bit underpowered to me, but what do I know of US railroading? :rotfl:

Unless it is a high priority train, US railroads allocate just enough power to run the ruling grade. Doesn't have to be fast, just keep moving.
