A few days later and the Canyon Crawler is ready to rock and roll out of Portola, CA., with their cars from the last EB trip and the empty boxes that came in from the Reno Branch...Today they have two GP15's to drop off at Blairsden on their way West. The UP9925, a SD59MX, leads a trio of her sisters Westbound out of the yard.

Image 1) After getting permission from the dispatcher to enter the territory, UP9925 West is in the CP at West Portola.
Image 2&3) Down the line at Clio, the fog has crawled in and visibility is down. I was still able to get these two coming and going shots!
Image 4) At Blairsden, UP9925W stops clear of the West pocket switch & the crew does their duty to get the 2 GP15's into the pocket.
Image 5) The UP9925W has put their train back together, done an air test and is ready to head West at West Blairsden. The town gets a sleepy wake up call as the engineer hiballs outta town.
Image 6&7) The fog has cleared up and the UP9925W races at a whopping 30 MPH down through Mohawk Valley towards Keddie.
Image 8-10) After holding clear of the crossing at Sloat for an EB to pass, the UP9925W crawls up to the signal knowing they're next!

Regards,

-Frank C.

I spent another week up in the Feather River Canyon...LOTS of good work going on up there!

Image 1) The Warbonnet lives on as the BNSF 949 marches SOUTH towards Keddie with the H-PASBAK-03A.
Image 2) After running around Almanor Wye, the BNSF 3857 leads the H-PASBAK-03A South through the Taylorsville Road crossing.
Image 3) Mid-trains run through the crossing and coal cars appear!
Image 4) The new "rear DPU's" show up at the Taylorsville Road crossing.
Image 5) Almost to Keddie and the UP DS10 is getting anxious about this train's arrival as she has a fleet of EB's crawling up the canyon.
Image 6) Despite the risk, DS10 let's the H-PASBAK-03A onto the main at Keddie with the promise that they'll make Virgilia in 20 minutes.
Image 7) Entering the siding at Virgilia the BNSF3857 SOUTH comes into "town" on a Diverging Approach.
Image 8) The BNSF3857 SOUTH has reached W. Virgilia where I catch them one last time. This train will hold here for 3 Eastbounds.
Image 9) On my way back up towards Portola, CA., I heard the Canyon Crawler (Canyon Flyer) calling signals out of Spring Garden.
Image 10) Wound up at Portola, CA., for the night and spent some time switching with the crew at the Western Pacific RR Museum.

How much of the Cal-P are you working on? Is it back to your old route or is this a new route? Also, did you scratchbuild that Davis Depot? Good shots, by the way.

I would say "who says that's the Cal-P?" but the signs are obvious...As far as the depot goes, that's the work of Jeff...

It looks a lot better than the model I made for Dave on his Cal-P project. here's an example.

Here's a few detail shots from the shape file. Difference being that during the modeling phase, and researching the depot, I discovered that the inside was different than today's depot, in that the ticket counter and the waiting room were separated by a modest sized arcade.

Obviously, i wouldn't use this model anymore due to the changed architecture, but it's an example of what I once did a long time ago.

I think I have that model in the route as I also was doing some work with the older dated route. Might put the depots side by side for "fun"... :jumpy: I might have some updates coming soon...

Now I'm intrigued. I look forward to seeing what you have in the coming days.
