A loner in a sea of red and black, 5936 is the last remaining GTW painted SD40-2 on the Canadian National system. Original repaint by Jeff Auberpine that I modified to better represent the actual locomotive including adding rear number boards and ditch lights, changing the step ends to yellow and modifying the axle bearings to an enclosed type. All rolling stock from SLI, route is the LaSalle Rockford and Central.

For the Fourth of July, MSVR is running a "FBL Tour" using our Daylight OCS and two of our Patriot lineup: Patriot I (ES44AC 700) and Patriot II (SD70M 5100). The tour trains start at Frampton and Mount Oliver, then combine at Lake Hurst to travel the main line to Fort Fairfax. On the return to Lake Hurst the train detours to take a full trip around the Simonville branch. Once the combined consist arrives in Lake Hurst, it is split again and the separate trains return to their origins in time for each city's respective fireworks show.
The Mount Oliver section waits for its Frampton counterpart, who was delayed by tunnel work.

Essentially, the front of the Mount Oliver consist is joined to the front of the Frampton one, and both locomotives are moved to the head of the combined set. After re-embarking its passengers, the combined train sets out on its journey.

6 hours later, the set is almost back at Lake Hurst. Work on the troublesome Josha's Creek Viaduct prevented a full tour of the Simonville branch due to time constraints.

As of now, the sets are almost split and preparing to highball.
Happy Fourth of July to you all!

Cool shots, Thom!

And thank you, Paul! They've taken a lot of work between me and Rick Franzoza.

Nice shots Paul!

It's a little weird seeing MEC and Guilford power together though. :clapping:

I suddenly find myself in a Guilford mood, so I broke out the semi-fictional GP38-2s I painted some time back. Original model by Erick Cantu. Rolling stock is a mixture of freeware by Shawn Kelley and payware from Diesels West and Streamlines. Route is the Quebec-Charlevoix that, while dated, still looks good by today's standards, though there is plenty of room for upgrade.

A bit of "modern" power on the Birmingham 3 route.

I didn't know Birmingham 3 had been released. I know it was being worked on...

Will have to look for this myself.

Interesting Maine Central-Guilford shots there Paul. It was always interesting with those consists in the early years of Guilford.

Thom. Love those GP38-2's you did. I believe I still have them somewhere..
