Would it be possible for OR to "accept" more than one freight animation line code in, say, an engine file? For example, I have a locomotive that uses a freight animation for a lot of locomotive details. I would like to add a second freight animation .s file to put a crew in the cab of the locomotive. MSTS won't allow this, but is there any reason to prevent OR from allowing it?

Thanks.

Yes, it would be easy. It hasn't been done because MSTS doesn't support it. Look for it soon after 1.0 is finalized, and released, and we start adding new features.

Along with multiple exhausts beyond just 2 on diesel locomotives.

And, an incredibly long list of other features!

I've added this to my wishlist, so we don't forget it.

Far as I know you can have more than 2 exhausts in OR right now. I do know that you can have more that two steam cylinder effects because I have already added a third one to a locomotive.

More than two exhausts are already implemented in OR's latest experimental releases. I would post a screenshot, but, for some reason, I haven't been able to save screenshots in the last several experimental releases of OR. What OR can't do with the multiple smoke sources is have different smoke magnitude or rate for each source--but neither does MSTS.

As for the multiple F/A's, if that is an "easy" deal, it would be wonderful if it could be included in an earlier than 1.0 OR experimental release. I know some guys (me, being one) who would love to experiment with that in some "OR-only" locos. Thanks.

Well, it can´t handle different rate and magnitude (yet - maybe something for the wishlist too? :) ), but that doesn´t mean all smoke plumes have to look the same: Try changing the nozzle wisth of one exhasut plume (that´s the last parameter of a DieselSpecialEffects-paragraph. That will change a lot! :)

Cheers, Markus

If you use different parameters in the two exhaust portions of an MSTS .eng file, the exhaust will be different in both MSTS and OR.

^I understand changing the exhaust parameters in the Diesel Special Effects section of the .eng file for the individual exhausts, but the Magnitude and Rate parameters in the Wagon section of the engine file appear to be "global" for all the exhaust streams in the .eng file. Am I missing something?

The model that I'm fiddling with is one of the "Green Goat" switchers that have three prime movers (diesel engines). What I want to do is have the first two exhaust streams respond to the throttle setting, while the third stream emulates the third prime mover idling. That requires being able the set each "stack" with its own Magnitude and Rate parameters.

No, you´re not missing anything, I fear...

And I guess, what you´re trying to achieve with the Green Goat is not yet possible :)

Cheers, Markus
