Didn't know about this control, so thanks. Do you mean, once Shift+T is pressed, filling continues until the tank is full (or the loco moves away)?

No, it isn't available in OR (and Shift+T currently does something else).

Always willing to discuss ideas but nobody's used the "T" key yet, so let's wait for feedback before committing to enhancements :-)

No, in MSTS the T key is for the refill, but pressing Shift+T will lock it on until you press T again, much like using the bell in MSTS. If you want to make the T key toggle, like the bell command in OR, that would be just as good or better. :jawdrop2:

Ah, but it does use it. See attached screenshot. The locomotive has 336 gallons of fuel--nearly empty. That is the level designated in the .act file.

Before posting, I searched through the code and didn't find it. I'd better have another look to make sure it's still working OK.

Thanks for sending this.

Hello.
(I apologize for my English)
I was glad to discover some news improvements in the latest 'WORK RELEASE' as the 'REFUELING'. (WATER, COAL, DIESEL).
But, some details let me asthonished.
IN OR, usualy, all the shapes which contain animation, are animated. OK.
But the only PICKUP shapes, when you press the 'T' button, are never animated! WHY?
Did somebody note this?

Regards.

Glad you are using the "T" key.

The animation part is a task which still remains to be done. Actually I have to find out how animation works in OR as I've not been involved with it before.

I have an animation which is easy to test (UK's Cambrian Coast Line). Which route and activity have you been trying?

Switches and level crossings should provide some good clues, as they work on similar principals of 2 states.

Hello.
Thank you for your attention.
CJAKEMAN:'Which route and activity have you been trying?'
You can try 'WATERCOLUMN.S' which is present in each basic route.
This shape turn 90° when you press the 'T' touch for a refueling.

But there is two (sub)chapters about the refueling in MSTS.
1. You must 'active' the PICKUP object in the EDITOR MODE by Rignt clicking the mouse upon the 'REFUELING POINT' to change, in the properties, 'DEFAULT' by '100%'
otherwise you can't have a refueling service in PLAY MODE.
2. You can, with MSTS Units (Engines, but also, freight wagons) which have the parameter 'INTAKE(x,y)' in the '.ENG' or '.WAG' file, ACTIVATE the 'T' with animation.

But in OPEN RAILS, I noted that if you present a freight wagon with a parameter 'INTAKE(x,y)'inside the '.WAG', OPENRAILS fails with error as indicated in the joigned file.

It will be interesting when the new refilling updates for ORTS has been developed.

Hi Folks,

Any shot we can add the [steam loco] tender coal animation to this effort... Watching the tender empty as I make my run is one of the aspects I truly miss from MSTS...

Thanks for the consideration...
:sign_thanks:

Regards,
Scott

Hi Walter,

It works very well in MSTS... I have my Mountain setup to use the animated coal load... I have two tender models configured - one for MSTS with the coal load enabled - the other for OR with it disable to prevent seeing an empty tender all the time... Let me check the pack on my Dropbox account - there should be two tender directories - one for MSTS the other for OR... Just simply copy the config files from the desired directory to the parent folder where they belong... It takes most of my coal load to make the run from Martins Creek to Maybrook pulling a heavy load - the tender is almost empty when I pull in... The refill function works in MSTS as well - as you load coal - the level in the tender fills as well... It's slick and a pretty important feature to me... This would also open doors to other similiar animations such as filling coal cars under a tipple or emptying them at there destination which is what I believe MSTS initially intended)...

I sent you the wrong link to that boxcar pack I emailed - I sent the whole directory instead of the actual file... The new file is that NE Boxcar 16 pack - you should see it if you would like to try it...

NOTE: Just confirmed - both tender configs are in the Mountain file you should have...

Regards,
Scott

Tender coal animation should work since 1947, January 18th.
