Hi all,
testing an older route (MSTS C&S South Park Line Narrow Gauge Route merged with other routes to a great narrow gauche fictive net) works well in MSTS but the following problems with distant mountains arises in OR:
(1) Distant mountains OFF: route is displayed with all details
(2) Distant mountains ON: Forests are NOT displayed
This effect is ONLY visible in the experimental Versions, tested in X 1779, X 1891, X 1899.
In the developmental release OR 0.9.0.1648 the presentation of the forests (and the other objects of the world-files) is OK, but the program runs after loading the next tile out of memory (without any error message).
Has anyone the same problems? In other routes the distant mountains are OK.
Thank You!
Klaus

I can´t really see from the first picture what FPS you´re getting, but if they´re low and you have turned "Auto tune performance" on, then this might cause the problem. Try turning it off, then, and see what you get...

Hallo
@markus_de
Thank you!
69 fps Distant Mountains ON; 83 fps Distant Mountains OFF
I have tryed all variations:
Automatically tuned ON/OFF with Distand Moutains OFF / ON 10 to 100 km / Set highest LOD ON/OFF
Cheers, Klaus

Hm, then I think I can´t help. The FPS figures could indicate a problem with Autotune, as of my experiments with another route, but obvuously, that´s not the problem.
Other question: Which version of OpR is that (which X release)? Also can´t decipher that fully...

Hallo!
I have found the limitations for my forest display/distant mountains problem. Perhaps it could help you in a similar situation.
Changing within the Options at Experimental.Distant mountains.viewing distance (km) I found for my system (Intel i7-2600k@3,40GHz 4 cores; 8 GB RAM; Win7 Prof SP1 64 bit; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 450 1 GB RAM; resolution 1920x1080) the maximum value with correct display of forests AND distant mountains for this large route at 69 km (Other routes work with 100 km). But this is also sufficient for a pretty landscape.
The reason remains still open.
Cheers

What happens is simple: the distant mountain is above the forest, so it covers the forest. Earlier the distant mountain height offset could be set in options, but not anymore.
