File Name: Western-Cullen Hayes "Model 10" Gate MechanismsFile Submitter: That Genset Foamer
File Submitted: 23 Sep 2013
File Updated: 04 Aug 2014
File Category: Signals & Signs

A set of Western-Cullen Hayes crossing gate shapes, used on any railroad and acceptable for any time from 1936 to the present day. This pack is intended to be used with Patrick Lopez's lights, bells, and signs, although I am certain it is compatible with other crossing equipment packages out there. As such, lights, bells, and signs are not included.

Comes in the following variants:
Pedestrian: High & Low Masts
12': High Mast Only
18': High & Low Masts
24': High & Low Masts
28': High Mast Only
32': High Mast Only
38': High Mast Only
40': High Mast Only

All models are equipped with Model 3590 Gate Mechanisms and Adapters aluminum gate arms, 5" diameter masts, and 4" gate lights. See readme for more details.

REVISION 8/3/14 - FIX FOR GATE LIGHTS NOT ILLUMINATING ON CERTAIN SHAPES. Selected files have also received DXT1 compression.

I downloaded this today A.B. and they're really, really nice models! Thanks for makin' 'em!

I did take a look at the model hierarchy in shapeviewer and while there I noticed you hadn't included any LOD's. I dunno how hard it is to do LOD's on a TSM model but if it's not too awful you should consider it as you could cull a large percentage of the polys in the static portion of the model, maybe as much as half with just 1 LOD. 125-130m will "erase" a 1 inch width almost imperceptibly at screen resolutions up to 1920 x 1200.

In that case, I should LOD out the bolts and ribbing at around 200m. Not sure how that'll affect the "FOV scoping" effect in ORTS, but it looks like they've got an option to fix that now. Ruminating on it further, a whole 8x20 flasher could LOD out around 1000m (not that shape clipping blots out the illuminated roundel when active anyway). But will making it an LOD mean a new sub-object is created, too?

Also, I'm not certain if anyone else noticed, but I forgot to run QA tests on the relay lights (some of them don't illuminate) and remove the counterweights on the pedestrian variants! Expect a v1.1 patch making all these changes.

So far, so good with me on this crossing gate set. But I will look forward for the patch to come out soon. :sign_thanks:

It's been re-located. Will go through and update the location!

Also heads-up: the 3590s _might_ be getting an update soon. Stay tuned!
