I have tried, but it didn't work each time. I suggest using Openrails. It works well with me.

6atalyst 6ontrol 6enter = 666. :good2:

Opinion is based on sad experience with one of the worst bits of software in computerland. I was nearly always an ATI card user, but in recent times I moved over/back to nVIDIA, with no regrets.

Cheers Bazza

One year ago I suggested reloading Window XP on your hard rive for use with MSTS. A year later I tried it again and Microsoft WILL NOT allow me to activate it. I guess that is their way of refusing to let anyone use XP anymore and forcing them to buy newer (and less useful) operating systems.

With Nvidia GTX 760 and Windows 8, MSTS runs fine.

I'd strongly recommend W7 if ya want to run MSTS or work in Route Editor. Thankfully it'll be supported until 2020, at which point I bet OpenRails will have long assumed MSTS's editor functions.

This likely has something to do with your specific installation. Microsoft does not stop anyone from using software that has reached end of life cycle. They will not prohibit activation. They simply do not support the product. There will be no security updates and for antivirus software there will be no new signature or system updates. In fact, Microsoft has decided to continue support of its Security Essentials package for Win XP until July 14, 2015. This was done in recognition of the fact that many large organizations will need time to migrate to a newer version of Windows.

I just truly wish that those large organizations, both public and private, would band together and put the proper pressure on Micro$oft and force them to continue support. Replacement of an excellent enterprise software solution should not be predicated on their ability to extort more money out of their customers.

Here! Here!

You would think by this time support should not be needed. By this time the product should need virtually no support anyhow. How long do you need to work out the bugs anyway!!

Hello, I'm new, but I have a Windows 8 computer and MSTS worked great. Until this morning, when the screen was covered in letters and symbols. But Open Rails runs fine.
