Paul, do you mean New Haven *Vermont*? There's a Pike Industries asphalt plant there (with a rail spur), though it's not on the route of I-91. That asphalt plant in Swanton might have had a rail siding too, off the St.J&LC, serving Swanton Limestone.

No, New Haven, Connecticut. Not sure where the asphalt plant was in Swanton, probably pretty handy to where the Interstate was. Was never sure who the customers were for Swanton Crushed Limestone, were always a string of old CV hoppers there but never seen any loaded. Guess the State Highway Department was their biggest customer, back in the early '80s there was a push on to replace the dirty looking gravel with nice clean white crushed limestone... tourists!

I think too there were so many guys who came back from WW II that started their own trucking companies that the smaller older highway system just couldn't handle the added traffic.
