Type Mogul (2-6-0)
Standard Gauge
Middleton and Unionville RR
Built 1920

© Captain Bazza (2011)
For Open Rails only (It will not run in MSTS)

25 May 2011
Beta 0.5.250511 (not for public release)

Notes:

Open Rails is under on-going development, therefore some functions may, or may not work correctly.

Not all the locomotive's features have been added to the model; some are incomplete.

The model is under continuous development, too, and should not be regarded as a finished product.

::::The model requires one pass through ShapeFix in order to appear in OR. This indicates some adjustment
of sub-object complexity is required by the modeler, but SF will sort it out if necessary::::

The only animation so far is the locomotive bell. It is animated for experimental purposes.

No lighting is setup.

The smoke emission coordinates are not finalised.

There is no tender yet for the locomotive.

There are no plans for this locomotive, the model has been entirely constructed from information gained
from several photographs. The only known dimension is the driver diameter of 51 inches.

Locomotive History:

(To be done)

Installation:

Unzip into MSTS Trainset folder.

Make up a small consist of suitable wagons, such as one of the SG hopper sets available from the ET library.

Due to the complexity of the model, the thumbnail picture does not display in the MSTS Activity Editor's Steam Locomotive drop-down menu. However, the locomotive will appear in the consist in OR. You will know that the
locomotive is there in the consist window because there will be a continuous blue line, denoting the brake line
and brake system matches the consist.

The locomotive / consist responds well to the latest OR physics. (Version 709)

OR version 709 is the latest in which I have tested the model.

Due to some bug in OR, there is a gap between the locomotive and the first vehicle in the consist. Cam View #2 does not center the POV on the locomotive 0,0 axis.

Thanks to Walter Conklin.

Cheers Bazza

The only thing I noticed is that large gap, I put the c19 tender behind her for a trailing car. It did seem to take an awful lot of reverser to get it to move though? Very nice model, OH: I just remembered, do the rods have animation? Larry Sorry I should read more throughly, I see the answer to the animations. Thanks again.

I've noticed with all steam locomotives it takes 51% of reverser to start either forward or reverse motion in Open Rails. If you are quick you can reverse motion in either direction in a lower reverser position if done before the locomotive stops. Don't use the brakes while doing this. Anticipation of moves ahead is needed.

There is a later version (not released) (and a tender) that fixes some issues.....no animation except the bell.

I can't believe all this was FIVE years ago! I seemed to have experienced a very long blink.

Cheers Bazza.
