!!YOU MUST HAVE THE "PE-TENS" SET FOR THIS CAR TO WORK. THIS ARCHIVE IS AN ADD-ON TO THAT SET!!

The Pacific Electric 1000-class interurban cars were delivered during the Summer of 1913, making the trip from Jewett Car Co., in Ohio, on their own wheels. Shortly after delivery, the 1000 was withdrawn from the class to be rebuilt into a deluxe bussiness car. Afterwards, the class became known as the 1001-1044 class, or as the "Tens" among crews and admirers. These were the last new wooden-bodied passenger cars the PE bought. Total cost for all from the builders was $155,783.91 less motors, controls and other equipment. The Tens' greatest day was the opening of the San Bernardino Line on July, 11, 1914, with great civic celebration and pride in the big new cars.

THE COMBINES
In 1933, PE rebuilt four of the Tens with baggage compartments for service in the San Bernardino-Riverside area. Cars 1028 and 1029 were the first, being renumbered (2nd)#1360 and (2nd)#1361. Later the same year 1043 and 1044 were released as combos (2nd)#1362 and (2nd)#1363. These new combos worked singularly as well as with the Tens for 9 years until World War II when increased demand for passenger equipment required three of the combos to be rebuilt back into full passenger cars, regaining their original numbers. Work was completed in 1942 and 1943 for 1360, 1362 and 1363. Car 1361 was badly damaged in a collision and was not rebuilt, but sold off to a private party in 1944.

Model Information:

This was constructed using a modular and "stick-built" method. The curved quarter-panels on the ends made necessary many polygons to get the smooth round contours of the dasher and curved glass caracteristic of the "Herriman"-era cars on the PE and Los Angeles Railway (streetcar lines). Texturing of the car side is tiled across the length from a 256x256 map with road name and numbers applied separately. Renumbering is accomplished by repainting the appropriate maps:

Side numbers: 10011360.ace
End Numbers: 10**Fnum.ace (each car has it's own front number ace.)

The baggage doors can be opened and closed by keying Ctrl+NumPad 7 for the right door and Ctrl+NumPad9 for the left door. The vestibule door is operated with Ctrl+NumPad8 keys.

!!You must have at least Bin Patch v1.7.1022 installed in your MSTS root folder to use this model or you will get engine file errors!!

--Installation-Installation-Installation-Installation-Installation-Installation-Installation-Installation-Installation--

Unzip to a temporary folder, then find and move contents, "PE-TENS", to Trains/Trainset directory, overwriting. This archive is an add-on and requires the previous installation of the PE-Tens to work. Build a consist in the editor of your choice. As stated above these cars worked singularly and with the Tens.

Known Issues:

Animations continually cycle in the Inside View (5-Key, or Passenger View). This is an MSTS bug. I placed the interior view in the smoking section and clamped head movement to avoid seeing any doors constantly animating (there's a lot of doors around passengers).

Trolley poles don't swing on curves to follow the wire due to their restricted pantograph animations.
