No 49 was built in 1881 as one of 88 built in the company shops between 1871 and 1885. It originally had “link and pin” couplers, manual brakes, and did not have a stove. This model is from after the stove was installed. This car was later converted to a two truck caboose and renumbered 0548 (a model of which will soon be uploaded).

The original 49 has been restored to it's original four wheel configuration by, and is on display at, the Colorado Railroad Museum. It is one of only two known surviving Class1 four wheel cabooses still in existence.

This model was made from plans shown in "A Century + Ten of D&RGW Narrow Gauge Freight Cars, 1871 to 1981", and the above historical data is from the Colo RR Museum's Equipment Data Sheet No.1.

To install, create a new folder under your Trainset Folder and extract the attached Zip files into that folder.

I would like to thank Howard Saunders for initial testing and for tweaking the physics and textures; and Tim Muir for for the beta testing. The screen shot is by Howard Saunders.

Enjoy
