To keep from hijacking the thread, I'll keep it short and sweet. Shay number 12( sister to Big six) and shay 14 (ex C&O150-4)could haul 35 loaded log cars, plus up the cass hill(at least 6%grade). As for speed, I don't know if anyone went faster in a shay before, but the record holder is cass number 8(class 100-3). Shay 8 ran the 8.1 miles between spruce and cass in 27 MINUTES!!in response to the first shop fire. Do the math. :good2: Built Ford Tough.

Sharpen that pencil Grindre, works out to 18 MPH. (27\60=.45 hrs. 27\.45=18MPH)(check 18MPH X.45 hrs. =8.1 miles)
(3.33 MPH x .45 =1.485 miles)

Hmmm, must have been going downhill with a tailwind... I think he said it was haulin' a load. That does make a difference cuz Shays don't run that fast when empty and on a flat stretch... :pardon:
(I knew somebody would correct me if I was wrong. I've never been any good at word problems. )

We were out playing today on Andre Ming's Ozark Northern. The route was run with a double headed set of the Erie Berkshires and a 34 car mixed train of Tim Muir and Rick Franzosa's box and freight cars....

Sorry. They are shelved at the moment. And I'm off working on another project so their showing up anytime soon is unlikely.

Unfortunately, I've came across this great thread just now, occasionally.
I suppose, it doesn't have to be abandoned and forgotten.
So, I would try to replenish it with new screenshots, as soon, as it would be possible.
Thanks to all ET members, who have shared their screenshots here: I was really pleased, seeing them.
