Like most D&RGW MOW cars, this car was converted from an unneeded 4000 series box car, and retained that number with an addition of a zero to designate non revenue service. It has served as a bunk car, bunk and living car, even served as a caboose, and ended it's active service as an Office Car.
This car has been painted both gray and red throughout its service and is presently colored gray.
It now resides on the Cumbries and Toltec Scenic railway and has recently been rebuilt by the Friends of the C&T.
This car was modeled from actual inspection and measurement and from plans in “D&RGW NG WORK/BOX OUTFIT CARS” by Steve Swanson and Mike Horner. All historical data is from this same publication. Howard Saunders performed file and texture tweaking, all lettering, and initial testing. Herb Kelsey performed additional testing and Tom Werb performed the final testing and provided the screen shot.
