I would like to add my personal greetings to all of you who are as excited as I am by this new Open Rail (OR) train simulator project.

So far, that is - since 2001, we've seen our sad share of train sim vapourware - namely, MSTS 2 Mk1 (the logical successor to MSTS1), Trainmaster Train Sim and MSTS 2 Mk2. Some of these were canned quite away into the project, leaving us poor expectant simmers seriously let-down again and again; while leaving us even more cynical than ever.

I look forward to the announcement of the next public OR beta.

It is my intention to model for OR and I look forward to the challenges inherent in that genre.

Cheers Bazza

I couldn't agree more! Promises to breath new life into an old but much loved sim.

I hope they can add sound echos realisticly! Many horns just don't have that loud, spacious noise.

It is possible to add an echo effect to liven a soundFX, it depends on the quality of the original recording.

I use Audacity for all my sound files. It'll do most anything for ya and it's free...

Does anybody know why the download is offline? I would like to test my NHT route in it, because it's a pretty heavy route for MSTS. I heard from other people that this OR handels this kind of frame rate drops way better than MSTS...
Well, I think that the only thing I can do right now is wait untill the download is online again and prehaps updated.

It wasn't meant to be available to everybody but everybody found it anyway.

I expect there will another "peek" available sometime this spring.
