Elvas Tower: PGE 40 Foot PS-Type Boxcars - Elvas Tower

Pacific Great Eastern 40 foot PS-1 type boxcars.

Four 40 foot PS-1 type boxcars for the Pacific Great Eastern Railway. Each car has a different herald as used by PGE from 1949 to 1971. Three of the cars were from an order of 200 cars built by National Steel Car in Hamilton, Ontario, between January and April, 1958. These cars were retired by BC Rail in 1996. Number 4942 was built by NSC in October 1962 as part of an order of 50 cars with 14 foot combination doors. This car was retired in 1988.
