This series of flats was built in 1887 and is the oldest series of D&RG flats known to still exist. The few that still remain have been relegated to work car status and are used for "boom cars" assigned to pile drivers and derricks, and for "wheel & tie cars" assigned to derricks.
This upload includes two variations of this series. 6087 is the original "as built" configuration with wood coupler buffers and the old style two piece brake cylinders. 6016 has the later style cast coupler buffers and a one piece brake cylinder, a configuration that many cars evolved to through the years. The letters "lv" in 6016's file names and "ev" in 6087's file names are reminders of which car is the early version and which is the late version
Both models are included in the same Zip file and use the same arch bar truck and brake wheel ACE files. To install: create a new folder under your Trainset folder and copy the four files that contain the number of the car you are installing, plus the arch bar truck and the brake wheel files, to that new folder.
This model was made from plans by "Tomalco" Published in "A Century + Ten of D&RGW Narrow Gauge Freight Cars, 1871 to 1981" by Robert Sloan, and from measurements made by myself.. The historical data in the first paragraph above is from this same book. Initial testing and all tweaking and physics adjustments was done be Howard Saunders, and final testing was done by Herb Kelsey and Tom Werb. The screenshot is courtesy Tom Werb.
Enjoy, Bill
