OPEN RAILS CB&Q Heavyweight Chair Cars 4503, 4508, 4510, 4512
CARS PROVIDED IN "MID" AND "END OF TRAIN" (EOT) VERSIONS, AND ALSO TRADITIONAL AND "SPAGHETTI" STYLE LETTERING
These models have been constructed to represent how they would have appeared in the 1930's onward, after air conditioning was installed.
Research sources of note for this project:
Burlington Bulletin Magazine Issue No.4
Burlington Passenger Car Roster - 1869 - 1930's © 1987, by William Glick
Burlington Passenger Car Photo Album © 2007, by William Glick
Passenger Cars of the Burlington - 1869 to the 1930's © 1986, by William Glick
These cars, classed PC-6, were built by American Car & Foundry in 1916-1917, and were used across the CB&Q system on just about any passenger train of the Heavyweight era. Originally equipped with a single body hung, belt driven generator for car lighting, they were upgraded starting in 1931 with combination belt and Spicer drive generators with the addition of air conditioning.

MODELING INFORMATION:
Heavyweight Chair Car models created in 3DCrafter Professional Edition, Version 9.1.1 (Build 1256). Post Processing of shape file performed with Shapefixer File Version 0.1.0.39 by Paul Gausden. Textures created using MS Paint, Photoshop Elements 6.0, Corel PaintShop Pro X5, and converted to .ace format by TGATool2A and/or AceIt by Scott Miller.
NOTE: These cars have been specifically built with re-lettering and re-numbering in mind. The lettering and numbers are applied to the cars in a separate FreightAnim shape file, and can be replaced by a custom made FreightAnim shape file as desired.
*****************************************************************************************
INSTALLATION:
Unzip CB&Q_OR_HW_Chair_Cars.zip to a temporary folder.
Move the folder named "CBQHvyChair" to the TRAINSET folder in your MSTS / Open Rails installation
When finished, you will have a new folder in your main TRAINSET folder called "CBQHvyChair"
NOTES ON BUILDING CONSISTS WITH THE DIFFERENT .wag FILE TYPES SUPPLIED:
Included in this release are two versions of each car. The "End of Train" (EOT) version has a gate across the rear vestibule, and lighted marker lamps on the rear of the car. The "Mid-Train" versions do not have rear gates or marker lamps present. To specify either mid train or end of train cars, use the following two .wag files as described:
Car is in the middle of the train: cbqchair4503.wag
Car is the last one in the consist: cbqchair4503eot.wag
Car Numbers 4508, 4510, or 4512 may be substituted in the examples above.

ALTERNATE LETTERING AND NUMBERS (BEFORE AND AFTER ABOUT 1951)
There are two sets of lettering and number FreightAnim shapes supplied. These represent the two styles of lettering that appeared on these cars, with the earlier Railroad Roman style lettering and the later "ribbon" style lettering which appeared in the 1950's. To change from one lettering style to the other, substitue the following FreightAnim lines into the corresponding .wag files as desired:
Pre-1950's Railroad Roman:
FreightAnim ( chairnums4503.s 1 1 )
FreightAnim ( chairnums4508.s 1 1 )
FreightAnim ( chairnums4510.s 1 1 )
FreightAnim ( chairnums4512.s 1 1 )
1950's and Later Ribbon Lettering:
FreightAnim ( chairnums4503late.s 1 1 )
FreightAnim ( chairnums4508late.s 1 1 )
FreightAnim ( chairnums4510late.s 1 1 )
FreightAnim ( chairnums4512late.s 1 1 )

SPECIAL FEATURE - ANIMATED DOORS
The left and right front vestibule doors are animated and will open / close on these cars.
In Open Rails the doors are opened / closed by pressing Q (left doors), or SHIFT + Q (right doors)

SOUNDS:
As provided these cars utilize default sounds, but I recommend the "3 Axle HW Sound Update" by Steven West. This can be downloaded from the following locations:
At Elvastower.com: http://www.elvastowe...
At Trainsim.com: http://www.trainsim....
To use these sounds follow the readme instructions included with the download and install the SOUND folder into the "CBQHvyChair" TRAINSET folder.
To update these cars to the new sounds, simply copy and paste the following exterior and interior sound lines into the .wag files:
Exterior Sounds: Sound ( "3axleEXT.sms" )
This replaces the line "Sound ( "genpasswagsteam.sms" )" in the .wag files
Interior Sounds: Sound ( "3axleCoach1INT.sms" )
This replaces the line "Sound ( "genpasswagsteam.sms" )" in the Inside section of the .wag files
