This box car was one of the rolling stock built by the Pullman Company for the Denver Northwestern & Pacific RR founded by David Moffat. The ORER shows boxcars 50000-50124. They came in two batches. 50000-50049 in 1904. 50050-50124 in 1906 They were essentially identical, with one visible difference. The 1904 batch had two 'guides' to the right of the door. The 1906 batch had one. The cars were given road numbers and DNWP herald originally and carried them through their useful life time. The RR became the Denver & Salt Lake RR after it was reorganized in 1913 following David Moffat’s death in 1911. None of these cars have survived. They were wood sided with wooden frames and archbar trucks.

I am also indebted to Wayne Campbell who altered the dimensions of the car, added the unusual extra truss rods, these cars carried six, which was unique among US freight cars of that era, and he also detailed the car in other ways to make it 100 percent authentic and accurate. We were fortunate to find good historic photographs and John Emmot of the DSLHS has helped through development of this car and much of the details and accuracy is thanks for his help. I am indebted also to all of the members of the Elvas Tower community who have helped and guided my own work at modelling and working to create resources that are authentic and accurate for the Railroad history and simulation work we all appreciate and enjoy. It conveys the remarkable work done by the railroad men and the artificers and car shop men who created these cars and this equipment, remember 100 percent of these cars was manufactured by American hands, and American resources in the United States of 1906, and served to help build our country and our nation into the great establishment that it is today. This car is intended for a recreation of the Moffat Road, Denver & Northwestern RR as it existed in 1915 in several RR simulations, and will hopefully be part of a fleet of rolling stock that are accurate and correct to their originals as a way to honor this remarkable railroad and its history that was so much a part of the early history of Colorado.

No Liability is assumed or given for this car and its use, It has been tested on both MSTS and Open Rails and should prove no problem for either to handle in large numbers. We will be producing a fleet of unique cars for this fleet to provide accurate consists of the rolling stock of the era.
