OPEN RAILS WESTERN PACIFIC 0-6-0 SWITCHERS #165, #163, AND TENDERS

ENGINES PROVIDED IN PLAYER DRIVE-ABLE AND AI VERSIONS

These models have been constructed to represent how these engines would have appeared
in the 1940's TO 1950'S.

The following historical and technical information is derived from the books
"Steam Locomotives of the Western Pacific" by Stephen M. Hayes, 2010, and
"Western Pacific Steam Locomotives, Passenger Trains, and Cars"
by Guy L. Dunscomb and Fred A. Stindt, 1980:

The Western Pacific purchased these 0-6-0 Switchers built by Alco in 1915 (#163) and 1919 (#164-#166). These engines were originally built for the United Verde Copper Company in Arizona and purchased by the WP in 1927. The WP added power reverse gear in 1938-1939, otherwise the engines were changed very little from the time the WP acquired them. Though originally coal burners, all were oil burners while on the WP. #165 is being restored to operation at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, CA, and #164 is on display near the WP depot in Oroville, CA. #163 and #166 were scrapped.

MODELING INFORMATION:

Locomotive and Tender models created in 3DCrafter Professional Edition, Version 9.1.1 (Build 1256). Post Processing of shape file performed with Shapefixer File Version 0.1.0.39 by Paul Gausden. Textures created using MS Paint and Photoshop Elements 6.0, and converted to .ace format by TGATool2A by Scott Miller.

NOTE: With the exception of numbering, these models were not designed with re-texturing in mind so repaints will be difficult if not impossible to accomplish. Renumbering may be accomplished by editing the files WP163nums.ace and WP165nums.ace .

INSTALLATION:

Unzip WPOR060s.zip to a temporary folder.

Move contents to ..\Train Simulator\ folder

Accept write overs if prompted, which will place a single engine consist in the Consists folder and
the locomotive folder in the Trainset folder

NOTES ON BUILDING CONSISTS WITH THE DIFFERENT ENGINE FILE TYPES SUPPLIED:

Included in this release are 3 types of locomotives to be used depending on their use as the lead or single engine in a consist (player), helper / pusher in a consist, or on an AI train. The sound files have been configured to achieve correct engine sounds for the locomotives in each of these cases, as long as the correct .eng file is used. The .eng files to use for these different applications is as follows:

Player consist any position (lead, pusher, helper): wpor165.eng, and wpor165tend.wag
AI consist in any position: wpor165AI.eng, and wpor165tend.wag

Engine Number 163 may be substituted in the examples above.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The roof hatch of the cab is animated as a mirror animation and may be opened / closed at any time by pressing SHIFT + V

The front cab doors and side windows are also animated and may be opened / closed by pressing either Q (windows), or SHIFT + Q (front doors)
