Alco General Electric Ingersoll Rand
Standard Gauge 1st Gen.
Box-cab Oil-Electric Switcher
Circa mid-late 1920's
Somewhat worse for wear.
A model for Open Rails only
by Captain Bazza
Version 1.0.08.13 public release.
Update to version 1.1 patch here: http://www.elvastowe...-non-essential/
These boxy, hence box-cab, 29 foot, double bogie, 350 HP, oil-electric locomotives were a design
child of 1920's technology. They were amongst the first generation of locomotives of the now ubiquitous
diesel-electric MPU type.
This model is presented in a rundown condition, without logo or numbering so it can be used in any industrial or dockland situation.
There are two folders, which should be unzipped so they appear in the MSTS Trainset folder.
A text file is included in the loco's folder.
Please note there is no cabview and this may present a problem when making up a consist with the MSTS Activity Editor. Apparently it treats locomotives without a cabview folder, and appropriate line in the ENG file, as an AI vehicle, such as used for AI trainsets. Third party consist editor may not have this problem.
"Galloping Gerty" was tested mainly in Open Rails Beta 1716 - without any apparent problems. "Gerty" has been de-tuned slightly to reflect her age and condition.
Despite her 'looks', "Gerty"s shape is an updated version of the previous boxcab model. Reskinning permission is respectfully declined. The model's main body texture layout precludes adding logos.
Your feedback is welcomed.
ENJOY!
