6-PUMP, 2-BAY CORNER-SITUATED BRICK BUILDING
MESH AND TEXTURE RENDITIONS ©2007-2012 BY TIM MUIR
Another high detail, big texture model from Railroad Earth.
Main structure was derived from a photograph of a late 1920's Shell station found online. It was updated to late 1940's for a route I'm working on. This is the culmination of about a year's worth of research and photo-harvesting of all the graphic bits and pieces for a late 40's Shell gas station. It's amazing how many different items and minutia there are to pick through to include in a model like this. I'm thankful there's a very large community of gas station paraphernalia collectors out there. I see it as a hobby as habit-forming (yet more expensive) as MSTS.
The model was built with intentions for it to be placed very near the tracks, at a crossing, so there's a lot of detail and large texture files. The model had to be split into two parts because of the high-polygon counts in the pump island lights, which have the lion's share of polys in the detail shape file.
Shell_Station_Corner.s = 4553 polygons
Shell_Small_Station_Details.s = 2397 polygons
Footprint: 75 x 50 Feet
So, when placing the models, it's best to pull up both shapes in the object placement box, place one, then keeping it in wire-frame place the other as close to the center (pivot point) as the first. Adjust so that the light poles are centered on the ends of their respective islands (use photo for reference). Now, pressing Ctrl+Shift select both to wire-frame, then adjust both together for final placement. Some minor adjustments to the detail shape will probably have to be made. It's not that difficult.
The model comes with night textures but no seasonal textures.
Have fun with it.
