SS. PORT STANLEY 1910
Great Lakes Steamship - Small Freighter
Sister Ships: SS PORT HURON, SS. PORT ARTHUR
These small freighters sailed the Great Lakes between ports and between Canada and the US for decades, hundreds served this trade between 1870 and 1940, many were scrapped for the industrial needs of WWII, and few remain now. They were steam ships coal burning and some were converted to oil. Many carried grain, ore and mixed cargoes to the Lake ports on both sides of the border
This model is a conversion of the Rhoda Emily made by John Fleming with his kind permission i have worked to replicate one of the freighters, she is not perfect but is close and can be used for routes from area of the world for they were found world wide.
I created her to help on a project to create a steam era version of the London and Port Stanley route by Wayne Campbell but she is suitable for other routes as well. This is the Static version, there are pilotable versions available of her and her sisters as well.
Conditions:
No Commercial use, no further alteration without John's permission, and no liability is assumed by either myself or John. She should work fine in any route for MSTS or Open Rails.
Credits:
Shape file and original model by John Fleming, new textures and model conversion by Chris Gerlach, photos for source from various historical nautical associations online. Advice and help in MSTS modeling much appreciation and thanks to Tim Muir, Capt Bazza (Barry Munro), Larry M, and John Fleming and Rick (Grindre) and many others. Special Thanks to Larry for helping with the foghorn shapes.
