Prototype's General Background.

This model represents one of the Northern Pacific's 95-strong fleet of Class L-9 type switching locomotives (1040-1134).
The first batch of L-9's, 1040-1049, were built by ALCO's Manchester Works in 1906 and had the Main rod connected to the middle drivers. The rest of the class had the main rod connected to the back drivers. Baldwin built the next batch, 1050-1064; ALCO's Manchester Works 1065-1074; Baldwin the next, 1075-1084; ALCO Dickson Works, 1085-1109; ALCO Pittsburgh Works, 1110-1124 in 1910; and Baldwin the last batch, 1125-1134, 1910.

Number 1064 was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1907. These were the most numerous and longest-lived class of switchers on the NP, lasting until 1958. They had 51" drivers, 20"x26" bore and stroke and set to operate at 180lbs boiler pressure. They had 31,200 lbs of tractive effort. Total weight on drivers was 149,500 lbs.

This model is very high in polygons, 28,294 to be exact. It runs fine in MSTS and ORTS.

Extract folders to TRAINSET folder, build a consist and go. The roof vents operate with the mirror command, Ctrl+NumPad8.
