This model represents one of the 133 33-foot caboose cars the Northern Pacific RR aquired from the Penninsular Car Company of Detroit, Michigan, between the years 1886, 1887 and 1889.

The model was built using Train Sim Modeler Pro by Abacus. It is extremely detailed with 24,379 polygons in the main shape file, and 5,202 polygons in the freight animation add-on shape, which consists of many small detail parts. The interior features many period articles from the 1880's through the early 1900's. I tried to keep things mostly from around the 1895 to 1898 period. But had to stray over the line on some things, like the brakeman's lantern, which is a 1920's Handlan product.

There are seven alternate wag files contained in a folder named "Alt_Pass_View", with seven different viewing positions within the caboose. These include inside and outside the cupola, left and right; left and right side front part of the cabin; and a view at the conductor's desk where there is reading material and paperwork. All have have 360 degree rotation. I realize it's a clunky way to get around inside, but, alas, MSTS does not allow more than one passenger view.

I have the sound set up for the default "GenFreightWag1.sms" but Steve Thompson has an authentic sound set recorded from inside an NP wooden caboose here at Elvas Tower library, in the Sounds section, entitled "Clickety-Clack" which I suggest the user to download and install per his instructions for this car. The conversion is easy once installed, just adding a "4" after the "1" in the sound call-out line in the .wag files.
