Hi all,
For those of you who want to edit this wave file into our sim(s) for your Shay locomotive(s), you are welcomed to do so. It's freeware and comes from a 3 cylinder, 3 truck Shay.
I recorded this at Cass, WV with my cheap $300 Sony Camcorder then had to convert it to wave format to get it here. It is unedited in all other respects.
It is the 'sound track', no video, of Shay #6 starting from a dead stop and reaching approximately 6mph.
I was sitting in the first car with my arm extended out holding my camcorder as close to the engine as I could reach to grab the cylinder's sounds.
I could actually reach out and touch the number plate as it pushed all 6 cars up the grade.
It's about 1:30 minutes long at about 12mb.
