This "TLC" car is an outside braced
These cars were an evolution of the gondola from the very end of the 1800's. Some lasted as late as the 1930's. On NYOW few remained in service hauling cinders into the fifties.

New York Ontario & Western had hundreds of these hauling anthracite coal. Lehigh & Hudson River also had some hauling anthracite.
