"TRAIN SIM MODELER" SHAY narrow gauge Locomotive Resource Kit.
Model was constructed with "Train Sim Modeler" by "Abacus Publishers"
for use with "Microsoft Train Simulator".
Orginal Model by Allen Norton "Nortec"-B&O Guy".
Note: This model can NOT be offered for sale as it was made with the
non commercial version of "TRAIN SIM MODELER"

This kit is intended to be used by modelers for gaining an insight into
the use of materials and operations necessary for a successful steam
locomotive conversion for Microsoft Train Simulator. This is a basic
kit only and does not follow any particular prototype. However it could
be converted into any prototype with the addition of shapes or conversion
of shapes depending on the modelers skills. The locomotive has
(FULL ANIMATIONS) of the valve gear which include (several) animated parts.
CAUTION: If the locomotive is moved fore or aft of the (Main's) center
point "ALL ANIMATIONS WILL BE LOST". So choose carefully.

Animations are 16 point with properties set to 17 animations. TSM will
automaticly change the animations back to 15 points on conversion.


No textures are included or will be offered. This is a paint to your
own preferances model within "Train Sim Modeler" using the paint program
of your choice.
Note: For texturing in "Train Sim Modeler" textures of greater than
512x512 square won't display in TSM so I usually paint in 1024
x1024 and resize the texture for application in TSM and later
convert the texture to 1024x1024 for .ace conversion.

The materials used in these models are set up for use with alpha channel
transparencies where necessary. Parts that require openings
such as drive wheels and cab windows are set to "Transnorm" and with
the use of "TGAtool2A" to create the pure black alpha template will
make see through parts.

Also a word of caution; When choosing materials in TSM use caution
as many of those materials will cause MSTS to crash. The materials
in these kits are known to work. The cab interior can be set with
"Transhlfbrt" to show up at night and "Alphanorm", "Alphanorm-" and
"Alphanorm+ can be used for windows. Other materials that work with
"MSTS" can be found within "Paul Gausden's" "Shape File Manager" in
texture modes but set those materials in "SFM" and not in "TSM". I
also use "Pauls" "Shape Fixer" after using "PolyMaster" if for nothing
more than to correct the frames per second from 30 to 60.

The model could also be converted by 3DCanvas for use in that program,
however all the animations will be lost and would have to be redone
inside 3DC.

The model is setup with false animations for the use of PolyMaster for
doing the model with sub objects and LOD's after conversion. In this way
models of greater than 20,000 faces are possible. PS: Don't forget to
remove the false animations inside the PolyMaster program.
"""""WARNING""""" Do not remove the animations from Rods or Wheels1
thru Wheels4 or the rod and wheel animations for the model will not work
and will have to be reanimated by you the builder.Only remove the
animations from non functioning parts.

If you save the original .ZIP file and you make a mistake somewhere
along the line you can always go back to the original file.

And remember to save your work often.

community you must include this readme doc with your own readme. (DO NOT
MODIFY THIS DOCUMENT OR ANY PART THEREOF OR USE IT FOR YOUR OWN).
